PLECS Standalone is an autonomous software package for time-domain simulation of power electronic systems. If independence from other simulation platforms is important, PLECS Standalone provides the all-in-one solution for modeling complex electrical circuits and sophisticated controls in a single environment.
Due to its optimized engine, PLECS Standalone runs much faster than PLECS Blockset. With the comprehensive block library, PLECS Standalone offers a cost-effective yet powerful solution for dynamic system simulation in general.
PLECS Standalone comes with its own engine for solving circuit equations. The user can choose between variable-step and fixed-step solvers. Variable time-step solvers are generally preferred for accurate and efficient simulations, because they adopt the step size during the simulation depending on model dynamics. PLECS Standalone provides optimized implicit and explicit variable-step solvers for stiff and non-stiff systems.
Sampled Data Systems
The simulation engine allows the user to model sampled data systems, i.e. discrete systems that change only at distinct times. Users can model systems that are sampled periodically or at variable intervals, systems containing blocks with different sample rates, and systems that mix continuous and discrete blocks.
Simulation models can be exchanged with users of PLECS Blockset via import and export functions. All library components and modeling tools offered in PLECS Standalone are also available in PLECS Blockset. When importing a model created with the PLECS Blockset, the Simulink part is ignored.

PLECS Standalone License
PLECS licenses are typically tied to a combination of your personal login name and the 12-character hexadecimal MAC address of the local area network (LAN) ethernet card in your computer.
You can obtain this information from within PLECS application (both PLECS Standalone & PLECS Blockset) as follows:
- Select "PLECS License Manager" from the menu "Help" in the schematic editor.
- Click "Get HostID...."
- Click "Copy to clipboard" to copy the text to your system clipboard so that you can conveniently paste it (e.g. into an email or a web form.)
